After Effects

In lesson we had a tutorial on after effects leaning all about what we need to do and how we do it so we can use this software when creating our trailers. We went through things such as positioning text and how to do that aswell as editing the size of the text, for example, from smaller to larger gradually over a period of time. As well as changing the colours of fonts. We also looked at using effects and presets on text or images this was important as this is where I found the special effect I want to use in my trailer which was Bad TV 2- old as shown in the image below. Whilst creating a example composition using text and effects, doing this we then learnt how to add different layers.

Film Poster Planning

This is my final decision on what font I will be using and I have used the below posters to help me decide this as I found that looking at actual horror posters would show me the types of fonts I should consider using.

I like these two serif fonts as they are clear and bold fonts used in these posters, however they both have a interesting element too them like the line going through the middle or the 'blood splatter' type look which adds an edge, mine has this from the fact it looks abit like where it is set in a forest as it has a bark type effect to it.

Colour Scheme
This is what I have created on AdobeKuler to show what colours I am going to use on my posted, I have used dark colours like black and contrasted this with white, I have them implemented a bright red colour as this is the colour I think is most remindful of my genre of horror as its the same colour as e.g. blood.

Above is the flat plan which I have created for my film poster so I know what I want it to look like and have planned it ready to create properly on Photoshop.

Titles and Font Styles

Art of The Title
DaFont
I considered the below name 'Unkown' aswell as 'Curse' however asking a small group of people I decided that from the most popular answer being 'Curse' which I have now changed slightly to 'The Curse' due to secondary research of other horror films, would be the best option to my film as it fits the best with the actual plot of my story being the fact that someone is cursed.
I considered the font above as I looked in the horror section of dafont.com and I like theis font because it is bold but edgey and other posters I looked at had used text like this however I decide that it wasnt right for my poster as I wanted a simple posted which is going to look very clear.
I have used finally decided to use the 'I Still Know' font because I like the bold, clear serif font that is used and think it still has a 'horror' like feel to it. I have looked at other horror film posters for ideas on font and have found them to use fonts. I think this font connotes well the fact that my film is based in  a forrest as it looks quite tree like. I have added 'The' in small because a lot of popular horror films that have been made have usually have 'the' before the word e.g. The Possesion, The Eye, The Shortcut.
